Dr. Oliver Lau
After graduating from medicine at the University of Sydney, Dr Lau completed his general medical training at Westmead Hospital. He then underwent specialist ophthalmology training through Sydney Eye Hospital, followed by further training in comprehensive ophthalmology and glaucoma at Concord Hospital.
Dr Lau then relocated to the United Kingdom to pursue additional subspeciality training in the field of glaucoma. Over two fellowships, he obtained vast experience in all facets of glaucoma management, including in the use of laser treatments, enhanced trabeculectomy, glaucoma drainage devices, and both angle-based and subconjunctival minimally invasive glaucoma surgery.
Dr Lau was then appointed as a glaucoma consultant at the prestigious Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, one of the oldest and largest teaching eye hospitals in Europe, where he was also involved in the training of ophthalmologists, orthoptists, and optometrists. Upon returning to Australia, he also served as a glaucoma consultant at Sydney Eye Hospital.
Dr Lau is committed to the continuous development of his skills and knowledge. He takes a holistic, patient-centred approach. He explains diagnoses and outlines the various treatment options in simple, plain language that is easy to understand. In addition to English, he speaks semi-fluent Cantonese.
