Burwood Eye Clinic has been serving the people of the Inner west, Greater Sydney and beyond since 1975. Founded by Drs. Fred and Ian Wechsler we have an established track record providing quality care, with clinical and surgical expertise, as well as a personal and caring touch.

We are an independent private practice, directed by Dr. David Wechsler since 2014. We have grown into a Comprehensive Ophthalmology group with particular expertise in the management of Cataract, Glaucoma, Corneal and Retinal disease. Our independent private practitioners are doctors who have specialised in the treatment of Eye disorders. After at least six years of medical training our highly qualified Ophthalmologists have then completed numerous additional years of specialist training and continual professional development as fellows of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists. As medically trained specialists we also understand and care about your medical conditions, with a focus on your eyes and vision.

Patients are generally referred by their General Practitioner or Optometrist. It is also a privilege to treat friends and family of existing patients, and medical colleagues.

Consultations occur in our Burwood office. We also perform minor surgical procedures, laser procedures and intravitreal injections for retinal conditions here. Most eye surgeries require hospital admission, usually as a ‘day only’ procedure

Our dedicated Ophthalmologists are supported by our caring team of professional Orthoptists and reception staff for your optimal care. Many of our specialists have undergone further training to develop sub-specialty expertise in treating particular conditions or parts of the eye. Our staff can help direct you to the appropriate specialist for your particular needs.
